Who we are
EWD Digital is the data controller for ecowebdesign.co.uk. We are based in Maidenhead, Berkshire. You can contact us about this policy or your personal information at info@ecowebdesign.co.uk.
What information we collect and why
When you contact us by email or through our website, we collect your name, email address, the contents of your message and any other details you choose to share, such as your business name, phone number or website address. We use this information to answer your enquiry and follow up where needed. We rely on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and keeping track of our correspondence.
If you ask us for a quote or to take other steps before entering into a contract with us personally, we use the information needed to take those steps at your request. If you contact us on behalf of a business, we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to that business’s enquiry.
Providing your information is voluntary. We need a way to contact you if you would like a reply.
Website access logs
When you visit ecowebdesign.co.uk, our hosting provider, Namecheap, automatically records requests to the website in its server access logs. These logs include the IP address making the request, the date and time, the page or file requested, and whether the server returned the page or an error. They can also include the referring web address and information about your browser and operating system, where your browser supplies those details.
We use these logs when needed to investigate website faults, detect suspicious activity and protect the website from misuse. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and working reliably.
Who we share information with
Our website hosting and email providers handle information on our behalf so we can operate the website and receive and respond to enquiries. We may also disclose information where the law requires us to do so.
How long we keep information
We keep enquiries for six months after our last correspondence. If your enquiry becomes a project, we normally keep key records, such as the agreement, project approvals and relevant correspondence, for six years after our work with you ends. This helps us deal with any disputes or legal claims. We keep invoices and other tax and accounting records for the period required by law. We may keep relevant records for longer where needed to resolve an ongoing dispute or meet a legal obligation.
